Kathmandu, April 21, 2017: Youth Parliament Nepal is organizing Youth SAARC Regional Conference – 2017 under the theme ‘Revitalizing South Asian integration via youth engagement in the SDGs era’ this April 24-25 in Kathmandu. Managed by Youth Initiative, the conference seeks to promote and heighten regional peace and prosperity, making a common ground for mutual benefit and effective communication among the youth leaders of the SAARC nations along with involving the creative and innovative youths to submit the common goal of our nations.
As per Suman Khadka, executive member of Youth Initiative, the conference will follow the model of SAARC Summit where four young delegates from each SAARC countries (scholarship recipients) along with other four participants will represent their countries. The conference will be participated by observers from different countries. During 2-days-long conference, there will be discussion sessions on various topics including Youth in SDG, Youth in Entrepreneurship, Youth-led Advocacy in South Asia, Leadership, and Digital Development among others.
The conference will provide an exclusive platform for an inter-generational dialogue which leads to a joint youth and youth ministerial declaration. Youth will gain diverse knowledge and build mutual understanding on common interests through sharing how their understanding may have changed over the experience. The conference also aims to empower youth to get actively involved in youth issues and encourage effective networking across regions for knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices.
Youth Declaration will be issued at the end of the conference.
