The 3 days program is sponsored by Rehdon College and School, Samakhusi, Kathmandu , Organic Bio Fertilizer Private Limited (OBiFert) and supported by Jamboree Nepal, Kamaladi Kathmandu and COPPADES (Committee for the Promotion of Public Awareness and Development Studies) with hospitality partner as Hotel Gateway Himalaya, Lamjung.

Designed with the objective of youth empowerment through development of diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, research, debate and argumentation skills, the participants in simple words, role play as the delegates of the countries as that of the United Nations. Youths belonging to around 40 different districts and covering all 7 provinces of Nepal are expected to take part in this conference to discuss, debate and propose solutions on the two major agendas; “Improving Food Security to support the return, reintegration and resettlement of displaced population” and “Promoting the involvement of Women and Youth in the Government.” These topics of the MUN will address the global issues related to SDGs formulated by UN and discuss on the majors actions to implement, in order to achieve it by 2030.

Lamjung MUN will also include two major youth social engagement activities this year. The delegates will visit Sarvodaya Sewa Ashram, one of the old age homes of Lamjung to interact and learn from elderly and differently abled persons from the Ashram and they will also travel to Rainaskot Municipality of Lamjung for hiking and homestay, which is a post-earthquake rebuilt community that is now a tourist destination.

The involvement and intervention of youth in the rebuilding process is vital in the promotion of tourism and reconstruction of Nepal. As the fundamental aim of Youth Thinkers Society is to empower young minds by facilitating intellectual and proactive mediums and channelize their acquired skills to support the local community, Lamjung MUN is providing the youth with the platform to empower themselves intellectually as well as the opportunity to learn and explore through the community engagement activities.
