Youth Volunteers Working On Sanitation And Relief

Kathmandu, May 9 2015: Youth Volunteers from Himalayan Climate Initiative-HCI is working on making toilets for the victims. They have made 4 toilets in Bhaktapur, 14 toilets in Nuwakot and are planning to make more within few days.

HCI is a youth driven organisation currently working with its volunteers in earthquake affected areas mobilizing around 2000 volunteers, and 1600 working with them. It is currently working on providing relief materials, being bridge between the relief provider and victims.  HCI kept the stalls in Baneshwor, Latitpur, Bhaktapur, Basantapur, Baudha to registers the volunteers. Most of the registered volunteers are youths. National planning commission has given permission to HCI to work as in relief providing and rescue with Nepal Army, Nepal Police and CDO officers.

_DSC3039Being permitted by national planning commision, government has not released any fund for them. Volunteers are raising funds from their own resource and they are getting relief materials from different organizations and people too. They are facing difficulties to provide the materials to the people they are trying to help.

They have send the volunteers in different districts to help in rescue and relief distribution. They have send the available relief material Thankot (200 benefited), Dharmasthali (400 benefited), Sakhu(200 benefited), Dhading (680 benefited), Kavresthali (150 benefited), Dolalghat (300 benefited), Bhaktapur ( 500 benefited), Sindupalchowk (40 benefited), Nuwakot (2100 benfited), Kavre ( 600 benefited), Dolkha (300 benefited), Gorkha (500 benefited)

Chandani Thapa who is communication associate in HCI said they are trying to raise more funds and materials through the people. She also added they are facing a big crisis of funds and relief materials.

“We have also created a bank account in NIC Asia bank of account number 63-44-333-683-524-001 where people can donate funds to victims”, said Chandani Thapa taking to Glocal Khabar.
