Amit Khanal: Entrepeneurship via Education

A 17 years old Amit Khanal describes himself as a dreamer and an explorer. He is the Co-founder and Program Advisor at Best One Network (BON) and is passionate about mathematics and finance. He is working to contribute on redesigning and redefining the educational culture by creating and providing opportunities, services, and platforms for students and youth. Being a co-founder and program adviser, he has been working to design new, creative, and informative programs targeting enthusiasts from different levels. Programs from BON includes Post SEE Power Package, information about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), career counseling, Rethinking Mathematics workshop, thereby, emphasizing on learning skills from varied background.

Starting of his journey

Asking him on how he started his journey, “I was preparing for actuaries. Actuaries are financial experts, dealing with insurance behavior, market economy and all these things. There are very few actuarial scientist in Nepal. It requires mathematics skills with financial knowledge. I had registered for an examination of actuary. Despite this discipline being one of the most important in the context of Nepal, only one person had registered for the exams, and that was me.”

Then, he along with his 2 brothers came up with the idea of “Best One Network” to provide comprehensive understanding of mathematics and finance and its applications.

He shared his most memorable moment when he was conducting an event as a program designer which completely focus on SEE appeared student where they could learn about photography, music, memory boater technique, personality development and public speaking methods. He said that it had been a challenge for them while convincing students and parents. He said, “But later as our effectiveness grew, we managed everything properly and it was a success for us.”   

 

Making a difference

An entrepreneur who have been giving his time for the goodwill of youth has contributed in the area of learning. His and his company projects to deliver Post SEE Power Package(bridge course alternative), information about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC), career counseling, rethinking Mathematics workshop, thereby, emphasizing on learning skills from varied background.

He said, “I’ve many dreams. And, all of them are aimed to make change in the society. I have a dream that one day I could contribute to change the educational system. I have a dream that one day I could contribute to change the economy of our country.”

 

A step towards teen hero

Asking him on what made him apply for Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018, he said,”It’s a matter of recognition. So, the changemakers in country would increase. We would be successful in producing quality leaders of very young age. It’s a big title and a big opportunity for me to move towards my ultimate goal.”

A person who sees himself contributing his society through a lot of educational programs. After 5 years, He believes his smallest contribution in reshaping the educational trend of our society  would be significant. He believes his team will Excel many youth in development activities, empower them, create many employment opportunities.

Amit Khanal was selected among the 20 brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers below the age of 20 in Nepal, for the year 2018. This annual list is the ultimate honor roll of young game changers reshaping Nepal for the better. The platform seeks to encourage the youths to share their initiation, creativity, and enthusiasm which will then motivate them and more of the other youths in the nation to develop an entrepreneurial thinking.
