Glocal Khabar: How was your journey as Top 6 finalists of GTH 2018?

Bikalpa: I was not sure whether I will be selected or not, but the selection of Top 6 finalists of GTH 2018 brought a bunch of happiness in me.

Indeed, the journey of the Top 6 finalist was fruitful. We were facilitated with life-enriching training and sessions. We got the chance to network with national and international teens. Couples of corporate visits and meetings with the recognized personality were the real opportunity for learnings. More importantly, I succeed to broad the boundary of my networking.

Glocal Khabar: How did your journey as an inventor start?

Bikalpa: When I was in class five, my mother pointed at the TV screen and expressed that it would be a proud moment to any mother if her children appeared on the TV for an interview. It was the turning point in my life. I wanted to make my mother proud.

I stepped into the field of the invention when he built the car of 1.5V from the toy car of his cousin when I visited my uncle’s house. This was the point in my life when I fell in love with science and invention.

One or another way, my inventions are kicked off when I see the problems in the society: either it is the solar scooter project which I started seeing the petroleum product crisis in the country blockade or it is the Smart Mask Project which I started seeing the trafficking police panicking due to dust of Kathmandu.

Sankalpa Dhungana, elder brother of him shared, “He was always enthusiast about invention. In the initial phase, he didn’t get support from the family but with his tremendous achievement, we are fully supporting him these days. The selection of him in the finalists of Glocal Teen Hero has brought excitement in the family,”

“ This Smart Mask Project was outstanding and we tested it successfully. If the policymakers have thought properly about this, it would have been a revolution which will eventually improve the health condition of traffics throughout the country,” said Shiva Bahadur Thapa, sub-inspector of traffic police at District Traffic Police Office, Kaski.

Glocal Khabar: What are your plan after GTH 2018? What will you be working on?

Bikalpa: I will be working in my different projects, especially on the research papers of my projects. Moreover, I’m planning to keep myself busy by talking with the stakeholders about the proper implementation of my projects in my society. Side by side, I will be continuing my education.

Glocal Khabar: What is your message to the youths from all of your experience till now?

Bikalpa: Just follow your passion. Instead of complaining, keep searching alternatives for the various problems prevailing in the society. Especially, if you are a science and invention enthusiast; this field is really marginalized in our country, it is you and me who can uplift this. All in all, my message is, keep inspiring and keep learning from the various experiences of your life.
