Kathmandu, January 10, 2017: Glocal Teen Hero 2016 finalist Anjal Niraula has been feted with the Best Teenager of the year 2016 award.
Japanese Youth Association (JYA) had recognized him with the honor for his outstanding work on the rebuilding of earthquake-damaged schools in Nepal. After the devastating quake, Niraula had formed a club, Helping Soul, and carried out reconstruction of schools in Sindhupalchowk that were shattered by the terrible quakes. His efforts have been evident in successfully helping people to make their lives better with education.
The award was presented together by the Japan Youth Association and World Youth Association (WYA).
From among 59 teenagers from various countries, Niraula was selected for the award amidst a special award gala on January 5 in Osaka, Japan, that was attended by a crowd of international dignitaries.
Though being honored with the award, Niraula, currently a student of class 10, couldn’t travel to Japan to get the honor. So, the hosts of the award have planned to bring it to Nepal and hand over it to him through a high-profile personality.
Talking to Glocal Khabar after getting selected for the award, Niraula expressed happiness for being recognized in the international arena and expressed further commitment to do better in the days ahead.
Apart from being feted with The Best Teenager Award, Niraula was previously honored as a finalist in the Glocal Teen Hero 2016, along with being recognized as the Face of Change by Coca-Cola in the programme named Feri uthne chha Nepal (Nepal will rise again).
