Kathmandu, June 13, 2018: Youth Speak Forum, an intiative by AISEC Nepal saw participation from over 200 youth from across Nepal with ideas on Action for SDGs event presented by Coca-Cola in Nepal.

The Youth Speak Forum engaged youth with leaders from the government, corporate, social sector and UN agencies with keynotes delivered by, Mr. Puneet Varshney Managing Director Bottlers Nepal Ltd, Ms. Binita Karki Co-Founder 2030 youth force and Country Director of AIESEC Nepal Mr. Narayanan S.

The goal of the campaign has been to mobilize youth from across Nepal who submitted ideas for addressing six particular SDGs that currently pertain specifically to Nepal. The event allowed students to participate in a panel discussion on “Entrepreneurship and Youth Advocacy in Policy Making” drawing in panelists such as Mr.Sixit Bhatta of Tottle, Mr. Chewan  Rai of YTS Nepal, Mrs.Bhawana Bhatta from the National Youth Council and Ms. Simran Sherchan from the Blue Diamond Society.

Workshops spaces were provided for participants to learn and interact based their chosen SDGs along with the opportunity to pitch their ideas for a chance to win cash prizes and a six-month incubation space for their ideas with AIESEC. The workshops were facilitated by Nepal’s leading changemakers including, Abhisekh Maskey from The Empowerment Academy, Amuda Mishra from Ujyalo Foundation, Sajal Pradhan from Best Paani, Rajan Koirala from Merojob.com and Shail Shrestha from Digo Bikas Institute.  With over fifty ideas submitted and a short list of ten ideas, the top three ideas emerged after an interactive peer to peer voting space and jury evaluation.

The top three winning ideas included, Project ‘Any Time Toilet, Sanitary Pad and ICT for the differently abled’ addressing SDG#4 Quality Education and SDG#6 Clean Water and Sanitation.  

Post the Youth Speak Forum, AIESEC convened its partners and well-wishers for their annual stakeholder’s dinner. This gala night affair celebrated AIESEC’s 70th year anniversary globally and 5th year in Nepal. The night included power talks on leadership experiences created and highlighted the way forward for the youth of Nepal and the world. The dinner was preceded by a partnership launch between AIESEC Nepal and Ncell Pvt.Ltd.

1st Place – Idea: Any Time Toilet by Bobby Thapa, Smarika Nepal and Binaya Raj Mahat

2nd Place – Idea: Eco Friendly Sanitary Napkins by Suzata Karki and Abha Bhattatarai

3rd Place – Idea: ICT for Differently Abled students by Surakshya Dhungana, Nirav Lekhak and Anju Bhattarai
