Starting of his journey

Asking him on how he started his journey, he said, “I got the feeling of a leader when I was elected as class captain in grade two by bringing the highest votes among 3 people. The job of class captain was not to control the class as other schools but to lead the class in extracurricular activities. As I’ve interest in social works, I established a club in my class named ‘Twinkling Star Club’ and start raising fund of Rs. 5 every month. We used to save it from the money we’ve got for Tiffin and we use it in helping the needy students in schools. It was the happiest moment for me personally”. After that he  had become the president of Junior Redcross Circle of the school.

Gradually, he accelerated his pace even more. He and his team helped the Sunkoshi Flood affected people by sending about Rs. 65,000/- which was collected among the children, parents and other businessman of the society. Next year, they collected over 1 lakh under the management of same Junior Red Cross Circle for the Earthquake affected people and send it through Nepal Redcross Society, Damak sub-branch. Till then, he’d established a child club named ‘Indreni Bal Club’ (established in 2069 B.S.) in my society and work for a year as a Secretary and then President. Now, I’ve been working as President of Kamal Rural Municipality level Child Network from 2 years.”

Making a difference

Yatish enjoys working for other. Most of the people have a sense of living for themselves only but it’s totally different for him. Yatish has been doing lots of activities to make his area a better place to live whether it is awaring about child’s right or helping people during catastrophes.

He said, “The work we’ve done in past some decades deserves the situation we’re living now and I want to change it. I know the only way to take our nation and people ahead is to change the present. The future policy makers are the present children. The children should be made aware about the socio-political situations. The children should be socially active and aware, too. First, they should be strong physically, mentally and socially. Then, they should be able to create the opportunities themselves to work rather than complain. For this, I’m working in child club and network because I am aware of the consequence about the future Nepal.”

A step towards teen hero

Asking on what made him apply for Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero 2018, he said, “This is an opportunity for me to increase my pace of work even more. I believe that the title will help me to do my works more easily and in joint efforts.”Further he also said that  It’ll motivate other social and child activist to work more in their sectors. Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero is an open opportunity to do more works for me in my upcoming journey, and the source of inspiration for my friends and colleagues.”
