YUWA to organize photography competition on the occasion of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Kathmandu, December 6, 2017: To mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, YUWA and its wing, Youth Activists Leadership Council (YALC), are organizing the photo competition on the theme Gender Based Violence. The competition is organized with the motive to raise awareness about the issue and outreach people all over national and international platforms through various social media.

For all those individuals out there who are interested in showing artistic impression through photos, this can be a platform to benchmark your stand.

Details of the competition

  • Only one photos will be accepted from a participant and the photo should be in digital format with a caption
  • Send your photos to application@yuwa.org.np
  • The winner will also get an exciting prize. Photographs will be judged on originality, overall impact, artistic merit, storytelling, and subject matter relevance to the theme.
  • Deadline for submission: 9th December 2017

Also, YUWA is organizing various other events to inform the people about Gender Based Violence.

KHULLA AAKASH ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

‘Khulla Aakash’ is a unique discussion event; the main idea of which is to share ideas, experiences, perspectives, doubts, knowledge, recommendations and any ideas that come in our mind through an informal conversation. Under the open sky, with an open mind, each individual feel free to talk about and discuss anything that comes to our mind. The session will be discussing Gender Based Violence.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

The discussion to be held on 10 December 2017 at Thames International College would comprise of the gender-based violence related issue with prominent panelists such as representatives from United Nations, Women and Youth Organizations working in this sector of developmental change.

AWARENESS EVENT

The awareness program is to be held on 6th of December with flash mob, poetry, drama to sensitize on gender-based violence concerns and various kinds of infotainment activities as well as to inform and aware people about gender-based issues that are prevalent in the society and still overlooked.

DRAMA TO AWARE ABOUT GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

The drama to be performed on 6th December 2017 in Teaching Hospital premises will reflect how gender-based violence occurs in all walks of life and convey the best way to deal with it.

SUMMARY SURVEY ON SITUATION OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN YOUTHS

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a global health and human rights issue with individual and social determinants. Youth are considered at the highest risk; national influences include norms, policies, and practices. This online research is being carried out YUWA and YALC. The intent of this online research is to know perception about Gender-Based Violence amongst the youth.
