Student unions withdraw 3-day educational strike after deal

Kathmandu, May 6, 2018: After continuous pressure from student unions, private schools will now return the increased fees they collected from parents.
As per the five point agreement reached between the protesting student unions, representatives from PABSON and NPABSON, the Ministry of Education, the private schools charging the increased fee will now have to start returning it as soon as possible. The ministry will take initiative to return the increased fee in coordination with the units at the local level.
Earlier, the private schools had charged up to 20 percent higher than the normal fee at the onset of the new academic year. They had also forced the students and parents to buy uniforms, books and stationery from only their shops which now will be closed as per the agreement.
