Student Unions set to submit a memorandum to the PM

Kathmandu, April 17, 2018: Student Unions affiliated with ruling political parties and also the opposition have decided to submit a memorandum to the Government with an ultimatum with 72 hours to address their demands.
The student unions after a meeting said they would launch protest programmes if the government failed to take action against the private schools who hiked tuition and annual fees within 72 hours.
The student unions came together to demand action against the schools charging re-admission fee from students against the spirit of the Eight Amendent of Education Act. As per the act, private school has to fix the fees three months before the initiation of new academic year and cannot charge readmission fees with the students every year.
Some of the private schools were found have increased fees by up to thirty percent and charging as much as 2,00,000 as admission fees, they said.
Representatives from Nepal Students Union, All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), All Nepal National Independent Student’s Union – Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) were present in the meeting as stated by the source.
