12th International MANGA award calls for application

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for application for the International MANGA Award. This award was founded in the 2007 for the purpose of expanding international and mutual understanding through the MANGA culture which is widely accepted around the world. The award ceremony is planned to be held in Tokyo in February 2019.

The best MANGA work will be receive the gold award of the Japan International MANGA award and three other excellent works will receive silver award. In addition to the awards, the winners will be invited to Japan on the occasion of the award ceremony for around 10 days as a supplementary prize.

The competition is open all international MANGA artists. The submission should be a MANGA containing more than 16 under any theme. The works could be previously published or unpublished ones but should not be created by Japanese artists. In case it is a collaboration, at least the story writer or creator should be non-Japanese citizen.

The deadline for submission is 15 the June and the application can be submitted in one of the following ways:

i) Japanese Embassies or Consulates General (Check online for each address.)

The participants are expected to submit two copies of their work must be submitted. Additional copies may be requested for works being considered for an award. An entry form, filled in either English or Japanese, must be attached to the work.
Page numbers must be indicated on every page of the work.
If the work is not in the form of a book, it needs to be indicated clearly if there is any specific two-page spread in the work.
