215 Nepali students honored with Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

Kathmandu, August 16, 2017: As many as 215 Nepali students from 32 schools across the nation have been honored with Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award today.

The students were honored by British Ambassador to Nepal, Mr. Richard C Morris amidst a special ceremony organized at British Embassy Premises this afternoon.

The award focused on empowering the youth aged from 14-24, was started to be distributed in Nepal in 2013. The award is internationally recognized on the basis of ‘one world, one award’ policy.

In the ceremony today, 3 award recipients also shared their experience of how the Award has helped them to grow and develop, and open doors for their future that they didn’t even know were there.

Each of awardee have committed to learning new skills, improving their physical health, contributed meaningfully to their community through service, and challenged themselves with an Adventurous Journey in the natural beauty of Nepal.

Founded in 1956, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life. By creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, get physically active, give service and experience adventure, the Award seeks to play a critical role in their development outside the classroom. It also allows their achievement to be consistently recognized worldwide, giving young people unique international accreditation of their experiences.
