Abhisek Maskey wins the first Corporate Roadies

Kathmandu, April 9, 2016: Abhisek Maskey from King’s College won the first Corporate Roadies competition held at King’s College, Kathmandu on April 7- 9, 2016.

Corporate Roadies is an event comprised of a series of competitions to make the business students able to face the real corporate world. The event was organized by Ideas and Solutions Pvt.Ltd.

The first winner Maskey was awarded with the prize worth 1 lakh (75000 in cash and 25 000 in gift hamper). Binita Shrestha secured the second position and Abishek Baniya came into third position.

Sharing his ultimate happiness after winning the competition, Maskey said, “At one point of time I literally felt like giving up from the competition due to an extreme pressure, hardship, tiredness and lack of sleep. Though I had a thought of quitting and returning home and hitting the bed for long hours, I pushed myself with an effort to complete the task in time. So, I think this title paid back my all those difficulties and pain”. He further said that he got to learn and explore the real management world from this programme and thanked the organizers for hosting such an amazing life changing competition.

Out of 16 Participants from Seven colleges only 7 Students had managed to reach the final round of the competition.

Sharing his experiences of the journey on the three days of competition, Abhisekh Baniya, the third position winner said that it was more of learning and experience gaining for him. “Despite all the hardships and struggles, the main thing I gained from the competition was learning and getting huge network of people who might be my future business partners”, he shared. He further added that it was more like a Business Convention for him though he found this competition as testing of a startup. He urged other youths with message, “we need to check how we can surpass our limits. Make your life better than you are at present.”

Binit Shrestha, the other finalist shared his experiences of the competition as a learning opportunity. Sleeping for only two hours a day continuously for three days was a huge challenge for him. He kept himself out of his comfort zone and gave the best effort to make his journey to the final round. “The major takeaway for me from Corporate Roadies is learning”, he said, “Learning never stops. So, we need to keep learning”. Moreover, he found the program as a means of collaboration rather than a competition.

“A single person can make a drastic change in their life if one really wants”, said Shrestha. He remembered the level of concentration and alertness that one needs to have during the exam time. “If we have the same level of energy and enthusiasm as in the exam time, we can make an amazing change and achievements in our life”, he remarked about his experiences in the competition.

Narayan Prasad Poudel, the chief guest of the ceremony and a member of National Sports Council emphasized on the major role that the youths need to play in shaping the future of nation in the path of growth and development. He appreciated the effort and hard work of the participants for continuously working for 55 hours within three days for the competition. “In the present context, youths can make their own career choice. There is plenty of opportunities in IT sector at present age of globalization”, he said. Giving the final messages for all the youths, he said, “We need to search for opportunities on our own. Change begins from our own selves. We can do what we want if we truly desire to do that. So, you must be a benchmark for others rather than expecting them to give you something.”

Giving the concluding remarks about the first ever Corporate Roadies in Nepal, Abhimanyu Basyal, Managing Director of Ideas and Solutions Pvt. Ltd. thanked all the sponsors, media, and participants with a message to the youths, “Keep moving forward. Run if you can. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, just crawl. But, keep moving”.
