Kathmandu, February 25, 2018: With the aim of collecting economic data required to prepare development plans and policies at the center, provincial and local levels, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) is going to start the national economic survey from April 14, 2018.

CBS has claimed that this is the first time a survey of collecting economic data required to prepare development plans and policies at the center, provincial and local levels is being carried out in Nepal. For this, CBS has also been training selected officials for the survey.

The economic survey of CBS intends to identify the status of small to large business enterprises and economic activities of Nepal. Branch offices in all 77 districts will also be established for the same purpose. The bureau plans to mobilize around 4,000 surveyors across the country for the purpose and publicize the preliminary report of the research within September.

Suman Raj Aryal, Director General of CBS, addressed that the economic survey aims to collect economic data required to prepare development plans and policies at the center, provincial and local levels. The main intention is, however, to keep the record of all enterprises run by the government and every business and industry run by the private sector from large-scale enterprises to small firms.

CBS also intends to collect the details of the employment status of a person, his/her economic and financial detail including small and micro enterprises and entrepreneurs revealing the real status of economic activities, engagement of people in businesses, their income and employment generation across the country. People can take part in the survey through online means as well as in-person meeting.
