Kathmandu, December 21, 2015 :With the main message of ” Reduce, Reuse ,Recycle” Climate Leadership training jointly organized by Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) with Clean Energy Nepal and Plan International Nepal was successfully held on 17-18th December, 2015.
30 young enthusiastic youth joined the Climate leadership training with the determination to learn and to develop leadership quality on climate change. The main objective of this training was to share the information on climate changes issues, its policy with proper mitigation and adaptation method and ultimately to develop leadership quality within participated youth.
Two days training included the session of introduction of climate change and climate justice, adaptation and mitigation measures,  REDD+:Concept, Evolution and Implementation in Nepal, major policies like NAPA, LAPA etc.  Sustainable transportation and tactic tools to use media which was facilitated by Ms. Krity Shrestha from CEN, Mr. Manjeet Dahkal a Core Negotiating Team for UN Climate Change Negotiation for the Government of Nepal, Mr. Ugan Manandhar from WWF Nepal, Mr. Basanta Poudel from CEN, Mr. Prashanta Khanal from CEN and Ms. Pragati Shahi respectively.
With these sessions of sharing of information from the facilitator, Mr. Niraj Kafle and Ms. Samikshya Neupane from We Inspire Nepal played some icebreaking games to develop leadership quality among the participants. This training is also entitled as “POWERING UP FOR PARIS”. The training was successfully concluded as the feedback from the participants was really positive and energetic. Mr.Pradeep Bhattarai, network coordinator of NYCA asked the participants to come up with some campaigns in coming days as a part of this training.
Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA) is a coalition of Nepali youth and youth groups formed with an aim to tackle climate change, the biggest challenge of our generation. NYCA works with universities, schools, organizations, and communities at national and international level to protect our future from the threats posed by climate change. We inspire, educate, empower and mobilize young Nepalese to create a future that is economically prosperous, environmentally sustainable, and socially justice.
