22 receive Australia Awards scholarship

Kathmandu, December 2, 2016: Twenty-two students have been awarded with Australia Awards, a scholarship scheme to study higher education in Australia.

Chief Secretary, Dr. Som Lal Subedi and Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Glenn White bid farewell to the recipients at a reception hosted at the Australian Embassy today.

Addressing the recipients Ambassador White shared, “I would like to congratulate the awardees and remind them that they have been selected to participate in Australia Awards for your potential to make significant contributions to the development of Nepal.”

Out of 300 applicants, 22 had been selected for the scholarship.

A 2-day Pre-departure briefing has also been recently organized for the Australia Awards scholarship recipients to prepare them for study and life in Australia.

Equal number of scholarships has been awarded to male and female applicants. This year’s list of awardees includes four people with disability.
