Kathmandu, July 31, 2018: The 2nd Annual My Skills My Future Symposium 2018 was conducted in line with the mission of CareerPrep Fellowship, to bring young students closer to the professional ecosystem in Nepal, by educating them on desired skills and competencies and creating a platform for connection with industry professionals.
With over 200 participants, taking place on 27th July 2018, the program launched with a panel of industry experts discussing about their professional journeys, required skills in the market for the current youth, and some suggestions for our audience on how they can best equip themselves for professional success. The panel consisted of Ms. Reshu Aryal Dhungana (Board Chair at Teach for Nepal and Director of Habeli Outdoor Center), Mr. Niladri Parial (Principal of Triyog High School and Founder/Owner of WriteWeavers), Ms. Reetal Rana (Managing Director of Mid-Valley International College), and Ms. Bivishika Bhandari (Head of Advocacy and Outreach at Himalayan Climate Initiative), and was moderated by Ms. Rashmi KC (Education Consultant at World Bank and Board Chair at Women Development Advocacy Center). The entire panel experience was incredibly engaging, with highly educational insights continuously being shared along with entertaining personal anecdotes!
Following the panel, CareerPrep Cohort 1 Fellow Ms. Shital Shakya briefly shared her experience, highlighting the skills learnt through the facilitated sessions, her mentorship journey with Ms. Bahar Kumar (Director of Nepal Communitere, and Mentor at CareerPrep Fellowship) and learning together with all Cohort 1 Fellows. On completing her speech, Shital presented tokens of gratitude to our mentors and facilitators on behalf of CareerPrep Fellowship.
Mr. Riken Maharjan, CEO of RB Diamond Jewellers and Mentor at CareerPrep Fellowship also shared his experience mentoring Ms. Bidushree Shrestha, CareerPrep Cohort 1 Fellow. This included his experiences on their reciprocal learning, letting the mentee lead her own project through the MAYA foundation, and some suggestions he had for mentees and mentors in the audience. It was also our honor to announce Mr. Riken Maharjan as the Goodwill Ambassador for CareerPrep Fellowship.
The graduation ceremony for CareerPrep Cohort 1 was held honoring their effort and commitment to the program, and CareerPrep Cohort 2 were also asked to step on the stage to be welcomed into the family.
