Kathmadu, October 19, 2017: Kathmandu University (KU) has come up with a unique opportunity for students to participate in one of the world’s largest competitions, Hult Prize challenge.
Hult Prize at KU initiative is the Quarter-Final round to the global challenge with USD1 million prize. The competition this year is themed at ‘Harnessing the power of energy to transform the lives of 10 million people.’
The winners from this University edition of competition would get an opportunity to represent KU in the Regional Finals planned for the first weekend of March, 2018. Hult Prize organizing team at Kathmandu University is working to engage all departments and colleges affiliated with KU so that a deserving team wins.
Hult Prize at KU is open to all students from KU; this includes all undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs and departments.

How to participate in the competition?
The students from Kathmandu University should form a team of 3-4 members and register their teams to compete in ‘Hult Prize at KU’. The teams have to come up with an enterprise idea tackling the problems relating to the Hult Prize Challenge 2018 (solving global energy crisis). The participating students will be provided mentorship and info-sessions on the pressing problems relating to the challenge and how to solve them. All the teams that apply for the competition may compete to secure the first position and represent Kathmandu University in the regional finals.
More than 2000 students from Kathmandu University are expected to be part of this competition. For the same, promotional events are ongoing at various colleges and departments of KU.
The winning team will represent Nepal and Kathmandu University in one of the five regional finals: Boston, San Francisco, London, Shanghai, or Dubai, scheduled to be held in March, 2018. The final round of competition will be hosted in September 2018, where the winning team to be awarded the $1,000,000 prize.
Last year’s campus final event was organized on 15 December 2016 and saw 32 teams participating from different schools including School of Music, Arts, Management, Social Work, Science and Engineering.
Team Utopia (comprising Pratik Satyal, Bivush Rizal, Ronesh Shrestha, and Ayush Adhikari from the School of Engineering) had won the Hult Prize at KU last year and got an opportunity to represent Kathmandu University in the Regional Finals in March 3-4, 2017.
