Capital welcomes 2017 with Nepathya tunes

Ram Bikram Thapa crowned the best rider of Dare Pulsar Venture II

Kathmandu, January 8, 2017: Tundikhel was the place to be on January 7. The reason? Nepathya was going to perform. And what a start to a brand new year.

Nepathya frontman Amrit Gurung began the concert ‘Nepathya Live — Pulsar Dare Venture’ with Yahan Kohi Saathi Chhaina, a 35-year-old song of Saru Bhakta.

Gurung continued to create magic belting out the band’s evergreen melodies and his free spirited performance. When Gurung sang the classic numbers Chhekyo Chhekyo Deurali Dada and Bheda Ko Oon Jasto, the crowd sang with him, enthralled.

The singer, as he always does in his gigs, addressed the enthusiastic audience: “When two generations — old and young — come together, then we can build a country.”

He continuously sang other hits of the band Chari Maryo Sisaiko Golile, Jomsomai Bazaar Ma and Jogale Hunchha Bheta.

Gurung stressed, “Whatever caste and creed we are, first we all are Nepalis.” Then he sang, Hami Nepali adding, “I composed this song while in the jungles of Pokhara. We sang this song abroad but are singing here for the first time in Nepal.”

He taught the song to the audience first and sang while the audience head banged and jumped.

The singer also requested all to explore Nepal. “Our country is very beautiful. So, let’s explore our country first.” Then he sang Taalko Paani and Gaun Gaun Baata Utha, while the audience waved their hands to Yo Jindagani.

Also in the concert the Pulsar Dare Venture II winners were announced.

Rider Ram Bikram Thapa was declared Nepal’s Best Rider and won a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs. Bikram KC was announced Nepal’s Best Rider runner-up and won a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs, while Sudip Shrestha was declared the Most Popular Rider. All three winners rode home with a Pulsar NS bike.
