“Do you get sweaty palms while presenting your work? Do you feel like you might faint while talking to an audience?â€
Anupama Aura Gurung shared these questions during the Effective Emcee Workshop that; she had read somewhere that people are more afraid of public speaking than they are of death.
Edushala had organized the workshop from 9th to 11th December 2016, as part of its Hero Course for the month for December. The idea of the workshop was to enhance, and learn about public speaking so that the participants were able to confidently use it in their professional as well personal lives.
“Ms. Gurung, also Miss Nepal Earth 2011, has had seven years of professional experience in Emceeing. This made her the most suited person to teach the class,†shared Ruchin Singh, Managing Director of Edushala. “Although she had no prior experience with teaching, she slipped into the role with ease,†he added.
The first day of class started out to be fun, and motivating, with a lively ice breaker. On the workshop, Gurung had also pointed out that the voice, is what we used to communicate with people around us. “We buzzed, we clucked, and we howled like monkeys until we became humans capable of using our own voice,†she shared on the workshop.
On the very last day, the participants were made to compose a speech for a mock event for Aura Airways, after which she gave them a one on one feedback session to improve their skills. The participants completed the workshop feeling confident and inspired. Seasoned guest speakers like Ms. Khushboo Pradhan and Ms. Nagma Shrestha were also invited for the session to share their stories and enhance the understanding of Emceeing effectively.
After the session, Gurung shared that the experience was meaningful for her and she enjoyed sharing the knowledge with the aspiring emcees.
