Heritage Walk to celebrate World Tourism Day

Kathmandu, September 28, 2018: Nepal is rich in heritage sites which are the pride of the nation. Marking the world tourism day on 27th September, Volunteer for Change (VFC) organized Heritage walk phase II with cultural enthusiast Mr. Hrishav Raj Joshi. After a great success of phase I, the walk was organized catering the larger group of youth who could not make earlier. Mr. Alok Sidhi Tuladhar (Heritage Activist) also joined the session that added extra flavor to the entire walk.

The participants were guided through the nooks and corners of Patan, sharing its historical and cultural perspectives. The walk started from Patan Dhoka at 8.30 am and ended at Durbar Square by 12 noon. Total of 20 participants joined the walk. Patan dhoka, Golden Temple, Pimbahal pond, Newa Chen cafe, Bahal hiti were the major highlights of the event.

VFC initiated this project with an aim to reconnect people particularly youths with our norms and customs, to learn the beauty of our own architecture, culture, and history. Today’s walk was conducted with the saying ‘Be a tourist in your own home country and relish on our heritage and tradition on this World Tourism Day’
