Kathmandu, September 22, 2017: The Home Ministry has launched a special campaign ‘Police in our locality’, with a slogan of ‘peace, security and good governance: civic-friendly police and Administration’.
Home Minister Janardan Sharma inaugurated the campaign amidst a program here Friday. On the occasion, he said the campaign has come into effect at 2,500 units of Nepal Police across the nation simultaneously.
The campaign launched under the 84-point road map meant for the reforms in home administration lays its focus on people. The campaign is expected to making the civic-police administration relations more effective by making the police administration more responsible to the people and increasing civic participations in the efforts for maintaining peace and security.
Every society across the country will be developed into a ‘tole’or locality and people’s participation will be guaranteed in the control of criminal activities and for attaining the social development.
Sharma expressed his confidence that the campaign would be successful in fulfilling the aspirations of the public for peace, security and prosperity.
According to him, a coordination committee would be set up in every tole in coordination between police and local communities.
He said that the campaign aims to further revise the concept of community police and strengthen society and nationality.
On a different note, Sharma stated that local level elections were held in the most peaceful manner in the history of election in Nepal. He shared that the Federal Police Act was being formulated and would be tabled in the parliament.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Shyam Kumar Shrestha said the campaign aims to help make the police force modernised, and the people’s friends.
Likewise, Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal expressed hope that the campaign would additionally help strengthen the relations between the police and people.
