Kathmandu, August 29, 2018: Volunteer For Change (VFC ) has organized national level photo and story competition on trees as “Tree of the Year Nepal” as an initiative for conserving tree biodiversity from 2017. As a part of the competition, they have received a number of trees story from around Nepal which is worth sharing to make others realize the value of the tree.
VFC program in the initiative of CREASION (Centre for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal) is conducting school level photo exhibition. As a part of the project, #RukhleBokekoKatha, VFC set up an exhibition on 29th of August at New Leera which was the second exhibition after one-day exhibition at Anupam Bidhya Sadan Higher Secondary School. New Leera Higher Secondary School who hosted the event as a partner also welcomed the student from Creative Model Academy Boarding School. The entries of 2017 and 2018 competition were displayed among 100+ youths to give students the ground level knowledge and information and importance about the trees. The event went well with the good level of interest and curiosity from the youth.
Tree of the Year Nepal is affiliated to the Asian Tree of the Year and European Tree of the Year. It is a continent-wide photography competition with a focus on starting a conversation amongst citizens on the importance of protecting trees and the importance of preserving Asian biodiversity. It is aiming to reach maximum schools and students and also the general public to share the importance of trees.
