Kathmandu, 16th January, 2015 : Nepal is to face Uganda in its first game of the 2015 ICC World Cricket League Division 2 that begins at Windhoek of Namibia on Saturday.
This is the second time that Nepal is contesting at WCL Division 2.
Nepal as Division Three Champion and Uganda as the first runner up secured their position in the Division Two after ICC World League Cricket Division 3 held in Malaysia some months ago.
Looking ahead to his side’s match against Uganda, Nepal skipper Paras Khadka said: “It is the first match in the tournament and we want to start on a positive note. We need to stick to our basics and believe in our strength and play to our potential. It is important to get a strong start as we have seen in previous Pepsi ICC World Cricket League tournaments; every team must be prepared well, so we cannot take any game or any team lightlyâ€Â, according to the official website of the International Cricket Council.
Earlier, Nepal had clinched the title of Division 3 by defeating Uganda by six wickets in the final in the tournament held in Bermuda in 2013.
So far, Nepal and Uganda have played five times with three victories in favour of Nepal.
This is the fourth participation of Uganda in the Division 2 after finishing becoming first runner up in the Division 2 every times it played.
Under the Division Two tournament held on a round robin basis, Nepal, Uganda, the Netherlands, Kenya, Canada and host Namibia are competing for the title. The final of the tournament will be held on January 24, with the top two teams qualifying for the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2015-17 and ICC World League Championship.
