Int’l conference on Buddha and Buddhism to be organized by Nepal in May

Kathmandu, March 20, 2016: In an effort to develop Nepal as the center for Buddhism, a three-day-long International Conference on Lord Buddha and Buddhism is to be held on May 19-21 in Kathmandu.

Nepal is going to organize the conference to further glorify the birth place of Lord Buddha, Lumbini, worldwide, said Minister for culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel while organizing a news conference in the Capital on Saturday.

In order to massively publicize the invaluable heritages remaining in Lumbini and disseminate the message of world peace, the government is preparing to conduct the international-level conference.

A 502-member committee under the leadership of Minister Pokharel to make the conference a grand success has already been formed by The Council of Ministers.

The conference would support for developing Lumbini as a spiritual center and promote Nepal’s religious and cultural tourism, expressed Vice-chairman of Lumbini Development fund Nigrodh Siddhartha, on the occasion.

The legislature has stretched out invitation to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, head of conditions of neighboring nations and pastors for society, abnormal state agents from various nations and associations and in addition Buddhist researchers and friars for their support in the worldwide gathering.
