Kalo Pothi selected for Oscars Awards from Nepal

Kathmandu, September 6, 2016: The movie ‘Kalo Pothi’ has been selected to represent Nepal at the 2017 Oscars Awards in the best foreign language film category.

Oscar’s Nepal selection committee had selected the movie for the official representation from Nepal.

Set during the Nepal’s decade long civil war, the movie carries the story of two young boys from different communities in a remote village in western Nepal.

The movie was highly acclaimed by critics and had performed well in box-office.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is scheduled to announce a list of eligible submissions in October 2016. Nine finalists from among the dozens of entries will be shortlisted on 17 January 2017, with the final five nominees being announced on 24 January 2017.

The winner will be announced at the Oscar ceremony on 26 February 2017.
