Sri Lankan Farveez Maharoof to the captain Kathmandu Kings XI

Kathamndu, 16 December, 2017: The Everest Premier League (EPL) franchise Kathmandu Kings XI has named eminent Sri- Lankan cricketer Farveez Maharoof as their skipper for the upcoming Everest Premier League.

Similarly, Akshu Fernando of Sri Lanka and Sagar Pun of India were cited as the two other foreign recruits.

The cricketer who last represented Sri Lanka in Test Match in 2011 and ODI in 2016 against England is set to be handed the captainship of Kings XI in the six-team tournament going to be commenced at the TU grounds on 18 December.

Maharoof mentioned he was excited about the EPL and curious to know about his team, so he arrived as early as he could to the capital. “I am obliged to perform well because of all the experience I have and the responsibility of being a captain,” shared Maharoof.

Rohit Gupta, the team owner, was optimistic and eager about the commencement of the tournament. He mentioned, “As the craze of T20 cricket is increasing day by day we should be excited to develop the platform. Nepal bringing in international players like Maharoof will definitely give a great foundation to the cricket venture.”

The champions of the tournament will bag Rs 2.1 million.
