Uber to extend Global Data Center in Kathmandu

Popular ride-hailing service, Uber is setting up a data centre in Kathmandu near Chabahil as a part of its goal to expand data centres globally.

According to the President of United Traders Syndicate, the official dealer of Toyota motors in Nepal, Mr Suraj Vaidya, the data centre will be located in the corporate office of United Traders Syndicate. The contract of the lease for space will soon be sealed.

For the acceleration of the growth rate of Uber, it has been focusing on the investment and establishment of the expanded global data centres in recent years. The cost factor as compared to other South Asian Countries is one of the reasons to establish its global data centre in Nepal despite having any inroads.

Vaidya who led the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and is also the immediate past president of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry added that this data centre will be beneficial to explore the information technology that is offered to Nepal through this as Uber is a fast growing company which is providing services in 600 cities in 78 countries globally.
