Kathmandu, 31 December, 2017: Bal Sahitya Mahotsav BSM, the first ever annual children’s literature festival in Nepal, is set to organize its fourth edition on 8 February 2018. Organized by Rato Bangala School, Rato Bangala Foundation, and Rato Bangala Kitab in conjunction with other partners, BSM is held every year in order to provide an interactive and comprehensive experience to help school communities appreciate the power and pleasure of reading.

Bal Sahitya Mahotsav 2018 will feature many distinguished speakers, workshops, shows and books. The event has aimed to adorn itself by book stalls, read-a-loud by favorite authors, new book launches, musical performances and fun activities for children and adults.

David Heathfield, an eminent international storyteller, teacher trainer and writer of educational resources, is invited to the Mahotsav as the special guest. David tells stories from the world’s oral cultures in a highly interactive and musical way. He will be entertaining the crowd at BSM 2018.

Encouraging children to enjoy reading and to read more extensively, raising awareness and fostering commitment among teachers and parents so that reading is encouraged both in school and at home, and expanding the number of books available for children both at home and at school are the major objectives behind this venture.

Tina DeVaron, Aneel Bisht, Narayan Wagle, Kamal Mani Dixit, Ani Choying Drolma were among distinguished personalities who adorned the BSM in the previous years.
