Conference on Accessible Tourism in Pokhara to launch trekking trail for differently abled visitors

Pokhara, March 6, 2018: The first accessible trekking trail, specially designed for visitors with physical and mobility difficulties, is scheduled to be inaugurated on March 30, 2018, in Pokhara.

The 1.3-km trail that facilitates trekking for persons with disabilities will be inaugurated during a three-day international conference on accessible adventure scheduled to be held from March 29 at Lake City, Pokhara. The three-day event, set to be organized by US-based International Development Institute, expects to invite more than 200 delegates including representatives from various global communities of the differently abled group.

The trekking trail is designed with an aim to access the tourist with physical disabilities and to ensure tourist destinations, products and services are accessible to all people despite their physical limitations, disabilities of age.

Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) opined that the conference is the first of its kind in Nepal which seeks to promote accessible holidays for the differently-abled people who have been deprived of travel and tourism facilities and services. He further added, “The objective of the conference is to spread the message that Nepal is accessible to all people, regardless of physical limitations, disabilities or age.”
