Biratnagar Warriors clinch the title of Everest Premier League

Kathmandu, 31 December, 2017: Amidst the 20,000 audiences at the TU stadium on Saturday, Biratnagar Warriors defeated Bhairahawa Gladiators just by one run to win the title of Everest Premier League.

Warriors led by Nepali national cricket team captain Paras Khadka, posted a challenging 149 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Bhairahawa led by Sharad Bheshwakar completed 20 overs with 148 runs only. In the final two overs, Bhairahawa lost 5 wickets and the skipper Paras Khadka two wickets giving away only 2 runs in the 19th over.

For Bhairahawa, Punit Mishra and Krishna Karki took two wickets each while captain Bheshwakar and Arif Sheikh took one each. The top scorer for Biratnagar, Ansuman Rath, scored 41 runs, captain Khadka scored 27 runs while Hari Shanker Shah made 22 runs.

Paras Khadka was awarded with ‘man of the match’ award and Rohit Kumar Poudel was declared ‘the most valuable player’ of the tournament. Biratnagar’s Babar Hayat won ‘man-of-the-series’ award.

The winner bagged Rs 2.1 million and a winner’s trophy. Similarly, Bhairahawa settled with Rs 80,000.
