Hundreds of students participate ‘Inter-School Grand Art Competition’ for preservation of Cultural Heritage (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu, July 17, 2017: Youth Corner Club in collaboration with Kathmandu Khel Mandal (NRT) conducted Inter School Grand Art Competition for the first time in Basantapur, Kathmandu. The main objective of the competition was to make the students aware about preservation of Cultural Heritage.

The competition saw the participation of a total of 417 students from 57 schools of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

The contest was divided into three categories i.e A, B and C. The ‘A’ category was for the students of class of 1 to 4 with the topic of their own choice. The ‘B’ category was for the students of 5 to 8 with the topic “Mero Nepal”. Similarly, the category ‘C’ was for the students of class 9 to 12 with “Mero Saskriti, Mero Sampada” topic. The time estimated for group A and B was 2 hours whereas 2 and half hour for C category. The competition was held at the premises of Hanumandhoka Palace Museum.

Artists Govinda Lal Singh, K.K. Karmarcharya and Nilam Tamrakar judged the participants in the competition. Niranjan Kumar Bhattarai, the president of Youth Coner Club handed the prizes to the winners. All the winners excepted consolation were also awarded tickets to Chandragiri Hills.

From the A category, Sama Maharjan from Kalalaya Art School scored first position. She was awarded with 5OOO cash, certificate, gift and gold medal. Safalta Dangol from Shree Kumari School scored second position. She was awarded with 3000 cash, silver medal, gifts and certificate. Roshan Bharat, third boy was awarded with 2000 cash, bronze medal, gifts and certificate. Sarita Gurung from Sathi ko Sath Nepal was awarded as consolation winner with 1000 cash prize, certificate and gifts.

Similarly, Smirti Maharjan from Shree Kumari School scored first position in the B category. She was awarded with 7OOO cash, certificate, gift and gold medal. Sushma Poudel from Gyan Udaya School scored second position. She was awarded with 5000 cash, silver medal, gifts and certificate. Similarly third boy from Galaxy Public School was awarded with 3ooo cash, bronze medal, gifts and certificate. Meanwhile, Prem Kumari Tamang from Gyanodaya School was awarded as consolation winner with 1000 cash prize, certificate and gifts.

Likewise, Green Peace Academy’s Rabin Shakya scored the first position in Category ‘C’ of the competition. He was awarded with 10000 cash, certificate, gift and gold medal. Susmita Shrestha from Shree Kumari School scored second position. She was awarded with 7000 cash, silver medal, gifts and certificate. Similarly, Saraswati Lama, third girl from Jagat Sundar School was awarded with 5000 cash, bronze medal, gifts and certificate. Rajendra Shrestha from Galaxy Public School received 2000 cash prize, certificate, and gifts as the consolation winner.
