Nepal Embassy in Beijing participates in National Tourism, Cuisine and Cultural Promotion of Belt and Road Countries

Beijing, July 5, 2017: The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing actively participated “2017 China International Food Safety Technology and Innovation Expo” and “National Tourism, Cuisine and Cultural Promotion Day of Belt and Road Countries”. The program was organized by China Economic Net and co- organized by Economic and Commercial Counselors Alliance in China (ECCAC).

During Nepal Day program on 2 July 2017, Leela Mani Paudyal, Ambassador of Nepal to the People’s Republic of China, addressing the participants, thanked the organizers for providing an opportunity to the Embassy for showcasing its culture and tourism products among visitors of the Expo. Paudyal opined that Nepal as a part of Belt and Road Initiatives of China, wants to benefit from China’s immense capacity and technological know-how and also highlighted some of the reasons why Chinese tourists should visit Nepal. Some of the reasons Ambassador explained were Nepal -the country of Mt. Everest and panoramic Himalayas; Nepal the birthplace of Shakyamuni Buddha and China having above 30m Buddhist believers; and Nepal’s unique topography, diversity and rich culture; among others.

During the program, Mr. Long Wen, who scaled Mt. Everest this year, shared his unique experience with participants and also highlighted the beautiful scenario that nature has endowed to Nepal. He urged Chinese people to experience that uniqueness of nature, people and culture of Nepal, which, according to him, one could feel only after travelling to Nepal.

A short video on Nepali Tourism was also screened and few Nepali cultures dances were performed during the program. The Embassy also displayed Nepali cultural and tourism products as well distributed tourism materials from the stall, which was provided to the Embassy by the organizers for five days starting from June 29, 2017.

Around 100 participants attended the program including Embassy families, Chinese media, and representatives from organizers among others.
