St. Xavier’s College Successfully Organized the 5th SXC Mini Marathon

Kathmandu, December 12, 2018:  The 5th SXC Mini Marathon has been successfully organized by St. Xavier’s College of Maitighar on December 8, 2018. The theme for the event was ‘Run for the Child Education’ with an aim to help the underprivileged students of Jansewa Secondary School that is located at the rural part of Khotang. Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Nepal Police, Sarbendra Khanal was the chief guest of the event whereas Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashok Singh and Chief at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singhadurbar , DSP Kaji Acharya were also present.

The marathon started from the gate of St. Xavier’s College and continued to Thapathali, Tripureshwor, RNAC, Jamal, Lainchaur, Nagpokhari, Hattishar, Putalisadak, Anamnagar, Bijulibazaar and finally ended at the initial point by covering the total distance of 10.874 km. There were around nineteen hundred participants running in the marathon.

In the male category, Nirajan Gurung was the winner of marathon who finished the whole race in 37 minutes and 40 seconds. Similarly, Siddhanta Sahi and Sagar Pratap secured the second and third position respectively. On the other hand, in the female category, Susma Tamang grabbed the first position by completing the race in 49 minutes and 16 seconds. Rachana Ranamagar and Tezi Gurung secured the second and third position respectively.

In the category of  Above 30 (Male), Sanjeev Dhakal was the winner  whereas Muna Rawal gained the first spot in the female group. Likewise, in the category of Under 14,  Deepak Magar obtained the first position. The teacher of St. Xavier’s College, Mr Zealation Shah won in the category of Specially Abled and was gifted with a Scooter by the organizer.
