Sahil Gupta, who has been a leading member of the team ‘THE ROBO CREW’, is an aspiring teenager of Nepal. Through his proficiency in the technological background, he is in constant quest of developing all-round technical solutions which can help the society live better at affordable prices. He was also listed under ’20 UNDER 20’ for Glocal Teen Hero in the year 2018.

To know what he has been doing these days and his future expansion projects, our Glocal Khabar correspondent, Mahima Poddar had a candid conversation with him. Here are some highlights from the conversation:

1. Would you like to share with us some of your current involvements?

Janaki Club of Computer Science, my previous initiation successfully attained its objectives which makes me really happy. Now, I am working as the EVP of ‘THE ROBO CREW’ where I work with other learned teenagers dedicated to the tech-sector. We have made various prototypes of our technical solutions as we aim to launch them soon for the betterment of the society. Some of our prototypes include Mars Rover, CNC Machine etc.

We are also trying to develop the home-automation system for affordable prices which can bring more convenience to people. As per the request of Mithila Wildlife Trust, we have also started working on building the prototype of Water Cleaning Boat. Alongside, all this we hope that we can soon launch the very first drone training in Janakpur keeping in mind the needs of our young audiences.

2. Do you think your young age comes as a hindrance when you communicate to people for your projects do the pre-existing dogma in people that ‘The older you are, the wiser you become!’?

I can truly resonate to what you are saying. However, things have been changing for better now especially after my journey in Glocal Teen Hero. The platform gave me a chance to build my credibility and now there are a number of people who recognize me. Also, people now take me more seriously even in my home town and workplace Janakpur, which has come as an added advantage for me to be able to produce some quality work.

3. How was the feeling of being nominated in 20 under 20 for you?

Glocal Teen Hero has given me the wings I always needed. I have been a hardworking person since my early childhood itself and the platform of Glocal Teen Hero just provided me the right opportunity to groom myself. I learned a lot from my peers during my journey.

Some of my peers in Glocal Teen Hero taught me more about robotics and now I make robots and also provide robotic training to others. The platform, most importantly helped me network and meet the right kind of people for which I will forever be grateful to Glocal Family! All of my experiences in Glocal Teen Hero have helped me become a better version of myself.

4. As you are an aspiring teenager who has observed the education system of Nepal most recently, how do you feel about the current academic scenario of Nepal?

I believe that the education system of Nepal can be made even more concrete and better with increased professionalism. The schools and colleges of Nepal should encourage the students to participate in competitions not only for bringing fame and glory to the school/college but also to develop the students. Sometimes, our academic institutions run behind fame as such that the true essence of competitions/conferences itself goes away.

5. What are your future plans and where do you see yourself five years down the lane?

I hope to see myself fulfilling all the goals I have set in my mind and being satisfied by all the help I can bring to the society. In order to achieve all those, I also have some plans in my mind. I do not look forward to going abroad for studies keeping in mind that our country at this time requires more and more young people who can work for the betterment of the country.

In alignment with my goals, I have planned to collaborate with some institutions of Janakpur. Also, with the purpose of increasing tech-awareness in Janakpur, I aspire to host a tech-training event which will bring all the experts from the tech sector together.

6. What motivated and drove you towards the tech sector?

I am greatly passionate about learning, exploring technologies and building new tools. When I build something new, it gives me immense satisfaction. Also, I love talking to others and when I can guide others with something that I have learned, it makes me so happy.

I have faced a situation where everything I did was going wrong but this unusual magic that I experience in the technological sector kept on pushing me forward. With the desire to build new things and help others by educating them, I am involved in the tech-sector where I build new tools and also indulge myself in various tech-trainings.
