National Reconstruction Authority Initiates Discussion on Construction of Dharahara

Kathmandu, March 16, 2018: National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has began consulting  with the concerned bodies for reconstruction of the Dharahara which was destroyed by the earthquake of April 25, 2015.

NRA has started discussions on the reconstruction of the iconic and historical monument after Nepal Telecom denied to reconstruct it.

Chaired by Chief Executive Officer of NRA Yubaraj Bhusal, a meeting was held regarding the reconstruction of Dharahara . Bhusal also stressed on starting the reconstruction of Dharahara  as soon as possible after completing all technical preparations that are required to be carried out before the actual construction work.

Yamlal Bhusal, NRA spokesperson said that discussions were going on regarding technical aspects of construction, including the design. The reconstruction of Dharahara would begin after the finalization of the technicalities.

Mahendra Man Gurung, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, Madhusudan Adhikari ,NRA Secretary, Dr. Hariram Parajuli and Dr. Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, Executive Members, Dhruba Prasad Sharma, Bishnu Bhandari, Chief of the Central Project Implementation Unit of Ministry of Culture, Dundu Raj Ghimire, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Bhesh Narayan Dahal, Director General of the Department of Archaeology, among other members of the expert group were present at the meeting.
