Nepal secures gold in men’s SAG football

Kathmandu, February 15, 2016: In the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) football Nepal has bagged a gold medal after a gap of 23 years outshining host India.

Sidelining India 2-1 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Guwahati, India, Nepal clinched the gold medal in the regional football tournament on Monday.

In 66th and 70th minute of the match Nepali strikers Prakash Budhathoki and Nawayug Shrestha scored the two goals respectively to sail Nepal to a dazzling victory.

India made a good start with first goal . India netted the first goal through a penalty in the 21nd minute in the first half.

Equalizing goal scored by Prakash Budhathoki through a free kick. Nawayug Shrestha doubled the score which proved to be decisive to win the match and create a history in regional football arena for Nepal.
