Kathmandu, 29 december, 2014 : Discussions held among the four major political parties including the Madhesi Alliance are said to be going ahead on a positive note.

Though the meeting is described as positive, parties are yet to reach a conclusion on the disputed issues of a new constitution.

The meeting is held at Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar this morning and it is discussing the report submitted by a taskforce on Sunday.

Following the meeting, CPN (UML) chair KP Sharma Oli said that the meeting was positive but it was yet to reach a conclusion. Parties could forge consensus if the concrete and practical proposals were presented for the discussions, chair Oli added.

Restructuring the state, form of governance, electoral system and the form of judiciary are the most disputed issues of the new constitution and parties have been holding discussions in different levels to resolve the issues for timely delivery of the new constitution.

Similarly, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal (Democratic) chairman Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar said discussions were positive and he further urged media persons not to exaggerate the issues.

However, the UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal had earlier said that there was less possibility of forging consensus on the disputed issues. He said there was no alternative of going for the voting process to resolve the disputed issues.

Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel said though the discussion was positive, it would be premature to guess how the issues could be finalized.

The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday aiming to finalize the disputed issues.
