Kathmandu, May 22, 2016: Open Space Nepal (OSN), country partner for the 60 Seconds International Film Festival (60 SIFF), successfully conducted the VIP Screening of 60 SIFF 2016 in Nepal.

The screening that took place in partnership with Morango Films, a film making company from Pakistan, the initiator of the festival that started in the year 2013, saw the screening of thirty five minute-long movies. Out of them, thirteen were from Nepali filmmakers.

In this year’s competition, there were over 400 films from over twenty countries, including twenty films from Nepal alone. Movies were produced on the prescribed themes such as peace, interfaith, water, creative, fiction, comedy, environment, democracy, innovation, ‘colors of your country’, conflict, and tolerance.

The festival has been engaging upcoming artists and producers from all around the globe to exhibit their work on various socially driven issues mentioned above. The platform provides a knowledge field for the global youth to display their work by capturing the challenges of their societies. 60 SIFF believes in developing local talent from the creative class through collaborative approaches to ensure a well-nourished pool of skilled resources.

Welcoming all the VIP guests in the screening, Muhammad Saif, the Country Director of 60SIFF for Nepal and Creative Director of OSN shared that creativity has no limitations and young people can use 60 second films as a tool to advocate and promote citizen journalism.

The event organized at Cine-de Chef, CTC Mall in Sundhara, was attended by personalities from different walks of life like celebrities, entrepreneurs, mediapersons among others.
