Kathmandu, June 25, 2018 :Hotel booking site ‘OYO’ and the digital payment platform ‘eSewa’ have announced a deal to collaborate for online and offline booking and digital payments.
After the new arrangements that come into effect, travellers can book and pay for rooms at OYO’s partner hotels through eSewa’s electronic payment platform.The deal was signed by Asgar Ali, President of eSewa and Prasun Choudhary who vice president of OYO on behalf of their respective companies.
Speaking at the ceremony organized to announce the deal, Mr. Ali expressed claimed their partnership would boost tourism in Nepal. He was quoted as saying their partnership would also play an important role in luring in tourists during the Visit Nepal year 2020 through sophisticated and hasssle free hotel booking and payment services. Speaking at the same occasion, Mr Choudhary from OYO said they were happy to partner with eSewa as they both shared the goal of providing great services to consumers in Nepal that is backed by technology. He was also hopeful the large network of eSewa would help OYO to reach more customers and generate more bookings for their partner hotels.
It was also announced that eSewa would provide 15 percent cashback on booking OYO partner hotel room in Pokhara through their platform in Pokhara. Bookings in Kathmandu will receive 10 percent of the payment back and plans are underway to expand the scheme throughout the country, it was learned. OYO is planning to expand its business to 3,000 rooms in 150 hotels by the end of 2018 and the customers will have the option to make payments through eSewa then.
