Toronto Nepali Film Festival to be held this May

Kathmandu, Feburary 4, 2018: With an aim to inspire contemporary independent filmmakers from the country and provide a platform for filmmakers to share ideas about filmmaking and culture, the ninth edition of Toronto Nepali Film Festival (TNFF) is set to be held on May, 2018 at Innis Town Hall at the University of Toronto. The organizers have also made a call for submissions for the films to be curtained at the fest. Toronto Nepali Film Festival (TNFF) showcases stories from all over the world that addresses the tales of Nepali and Nepal.

The festival convenes films of all varieties and lengths with english subtitles. According to Sangam Pulami Magar, the coordinator of the fest, “All films to be curtained in the film festival are paid an allowance depending on the length of film. An audience choice and a jury choice award are presented at the end of the festival carrying fiscal values of CAD $1500 and CAD $500.”

Toronto Nepali Film Festival is organized every year by expert Nepali film fanatics living in Canada. Previously in 2017, the fest included 14 films in which Dadyaa – The Woodpeckers of Rotha, directed by Bibhusan Basnet and Pooja Gurung, was honored with the Jury Choice Award, and Heaven is Black, directed by Rajkumar Rai, took the Public Choice Award.
