Kathmandu, January 22, 2017: Debutant Reed Model College claimed the 12th Dhorpatan Women’s Double League Volleyball Championship on Saturday.
In what served as the final match, Reed Model defeated Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club 25-20, 25-16, 25-20 to confirm the title. In the process, Reed Model remained unbeaten throught the tournament and accumulated 45 points from 15 matches.
The title earned Reed Model Rs 320,000. Reed Model had defeated New Diamond Academy 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-19 in their second match of the day. APF ended up second with 39 points from 15 games winning 15 and losing two. New Diamond, who had 11 wins and four defeats, finished third with 33 points.
In the last match, New Diamond beat Nepal Police Club (NPC) 25-22, 25-15, 25-23. NPC finished fourth with 27 points. Western Region, Tribhuvan Army Club and hosts Dhorpatan Sports Club rounded up in the top seven finishes. Runners-up APF got Rs 160,000, while New Diamond took Rs 75,000.
Pratibha Mali of New Diamond was honoured with the Great Achievement Award, while Tara Bhandari of Dhorpatan Sports Club took the Rising Player award. Likewise, Kamana Bista of NPC was named the player-of-the-series, Saraswati Chaudhary of APF was adjudged the best player of the year and Reed Model’s Minimal took the best player’s award. The five individuals got a scooter each.
