KATHMANDU, September 19, 2019: Vipassana Dhakal from Rato Bangla School won the Turkish Airlines Art Competition, from a very competitive artworks received from 49 different schools in-valley\out-valley. The winner was awarded with a return economy class ticket of Turkish Airlines to her dream destination “TURKEY”along with one of her parents.

Turkish Airlines in collaboration with Glocal Pvt. Ltd. had organized a themed art competition “FLYING WITH TURKISH AIRLINES:DREAM DESTINATION” among school students (age group 13-19). The objective of the art competition is said to highlight students artistic talents through fine art. Through Turkish Airlines the themed art statement is to promote reflective and critical thinking regarding visual art and at the same time support students in building their dreams.

The winner felicitation programme was organized today at Rato Bangala School with the presence of Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, General Manager of Turkish Airlines; Archanna Shrestha, Regional Marketing Representative of Turkish Airlines & Kajol Jha Thakur, Associate Director of Glocal Pvt. Ltd, teachers, students and media persons from different news portals. The program started with a welcome speech by a teacher and a briefing session about the art competition, it’s organizers and the winner.

The art competition winner, Vipassana Dhakal shared her words on winning painting saying, “First of all, I needed some peaceful environment to think and brainstorm. So, I read the topic which is ‘Flying with Turkish Airlines: Dream Destination’ multiple times. I thought Turkey is a beautiful place as well as my dream destination and I have never been to Turkey. So, that’s how it came to my mind and I just painted this beautiful country, Turkey.”

Mr. Abdullah Tuncer Kececi, General Manager of Turkish Airlines, congratulated the winner and said, “We organized this art competition focusing on students’ artistic talents. We always try to support such youth activities and will also organise many events like this. I would like to thank students for their participation and next year also we will organise this art competition.” He even praised the artwork of the winner and said, “Her art is about Turkey which is very artistic and creative as well.” He also suggested students to take some time for their hobbies during their school life.

The judgment of the artwork was done by the Turkish Airlines team and Glocal Team based in Kathmandu considering the following criteria;

  1. Relevance to the theme: Flying with Turkish Airlines to Your Dream Destination.
  2. Visual Effectiveness/Overall Appearance
  3. Originality
  4. Message
