World First Aid Day observed in Bangladesh

On 13th of August World First Aid Day observed, organized by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRCS).

The day celebrated with theme “Be a Hero, Save Lives! First Aid is for Everyone, Everywhere.”

BMM Mozharul Huq, Secretary General, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. Head of delegation of the ICRC, representatives from IFRCS, Members of managing committee of BDRCS and partner national societies were also present.

Leaflet distribution, Street shows and road dramas at six key points in Dhaka city, talk-show and first aid competition involving Red Crescent youth to sensitize people about the importance of providing first aid were the highlights of the program.

Besides Dhaka other 68 district and cities of Bangladesh also observed the day by holding rallies, discussion meetings and first aid competitions.

Currently, BDRCS has nearly 85,000 trained Red Crescent members who are trained in first aid. They also are conducting basic first aid training regularly.
