Kathmandu, April 20 : According to the Education Minister Girirajmani Pokharel, 50% of the children of school-going age group who donot attend School in Province 2. A total of 153,819 children of school-going age who are out of school belong to the state, he pointed .
He said, ”There are 313,289 out-of-school children in the country and around 50% of them are from province 2” amid a function at Gadhiya, Saptari where he also took guardianship of Dom student .
A total of 25,515 children in Sarlahi, 24,836 in Dhanusha, 22,938 in Rautahat, 21,514 in Parsa, 20,409 in Bara, 13,434 in Saptari, 13,411 in Siraha, and 11,752 children are still deprived of education, according to the official government data.
The education minister also added, “The authorities concerned should work towards improving the enrolment rate and at the same time keep the dropout rate low” showing concern about the fact that around 20 percent of the children dropout after getting admitted in the School every year.
Earlier, Prime Minister had taken guardianship of two children from Mugu and Siraha districts.
