7 including pilot killed as Fishtail Air chopper crashes in Nuwakot

Kathmandu, August 8, 2016: Seven people including pilot were killed as a Fishtail Air chopper headed for Kathmandu from Gorkha crashed at Betini, Belkot VDC-8 of Nuwakot district on Monday.

“Seven people including captain Ranjan Limbu and a toddler died on the spot as the accident occurred, said Ramesh Siwakoti, Sales and Marketing Officer at Fishtail Air Pvt. Ltd.

The ill-fated chopper, with Call Sign 9N AKA, was headed for Kathmandu  from Sirdibas VDC of  Gorkha district, carrying a pregnant woman for treatment.

The chopper was ferrying seven people including a pregnant woman to Kathmandu for treatment from Sirdibas of Gorkha.

“I saw plumes of smoke coming out of the accident site,” said an eyewitness.

Two teams of security personnel – one from District Police Office, Nuwakot and the other from Armed Police Force Training Center, Kakani, have been deployed to the accident site.
