Mustang, Jan 27,2015: A 75-km long alternative route has been constructed here to promote tourism.
The alternative route was opened after the roadway from Beni of Myagdi to Muktinath shadowed the world famous Annapurna trekking route encompassing the ACAP.
With the joint initiatives of the District Development Committee, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), and tourism entrepreneurs, the alternative tourism route is opened from Muktinath of Mustang to Narchyang of Myagdi district.
Chief of the ACAP in Mustang, Bidur Kuikel, informed that the alternative route was opened along the Kaligandaki corridor by allocating budget for five year turn by turn. With this, the tourists can go to Pairathapla from Ranipauwa of Muktinath via Lupra, Jomsom, Dhumbatal, Chhaire and Titi pool.
He added, “There are huge benefits to the tourist areas along this route, which earlier were at the receiving end of the chaotic motorway.”
With this, the tourism entrepreneurs have all set to expand their enterprises along the Kalapani of Mustang, Pairothapla, Ghasa, Lete, Marpha, Kagbeni.
For the expansion of the hotels and other tourism related business, the entrepreneurs are also conducting feasibility study in group.
Before the operation of the Beni-Jomsom roadway, Ghandruk of Kaski and Ghorepani of Myagdi were the most famous tourist hangouts, which later saw 50 percent decline in tourists’ arrival.
Programme Officer at Mustang DDC, Kedar Sing Thapa, said the alternative trekking route will help boost tourism in the entire area.
