Kathmandu, 23 March, 2015Â : The two-day conference on “Asia Pacific Regional Service Network for Peace and Development” has begun here today.
The conference is jointly organised by the United Nations Economic Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Ministry of Youth and Sports and World Peace Foundation.
Some 200 representatives from Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Malaysia, the USA, South Korea and Kenya, among other countries are participating in the conference. The conference would discuss the various topics including peace, development, environment, health, disaster management and youth entrepreneurs.
Inaugurating the conference, Minister for Youth and Sports Purushottam Poudel said the government would move ahead by collaborating with different sectors for the development of youths.
Likewise, Secretary-General of SAARC Arjun Bahadur Thapa assured to provide full support from his side for capacity building of youths as their role was essential for the stability and peace of the country.
Similarly, National Planning Commission Member Dr Yagya Bahadur Karki expressed the belief that collaboration with youth was necessary for lasting peace.
Different working papers related to youth, development and peace would be presented and the conference would issue the Kathmandu Declaration, said Foundation Chair Ram Rohan Panta.
