Janakpurdham, 5 April, 2015 :Â A regional seminar on Budget Infrastructure development of the Terai region kicked-off here from today.
Inaugurating the seminar organized by the National Planning Commission (NPC), Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bimalendra Nidhi said the political parties have failed to achieve the political and infrastructure development goals. He said there should be road network in each federal state that the government has forwarded the concept of possible regional road network.
Among the 34 roadways planned to be constructed as per the regional road project, 27 of them lie in Terai. The government has also planned to link every constituency with blacktopped road.
A Company has agreed to construct the Kathmandu-Nijgad Fast Track, he said and expressed his hope that once the road was constructed it would be supportive on the construction of the Nijgad Airport expansion.
Chairman of the Legislature-Parliament Development Committee Ravindra Adhikari said the national development was not possible unless the discrimination regarding the thought of development process of hills, Terai-Madhesh regions. He said the human index in terai would be even pathetic than the Karnali region.
Karnali region is considered to have poor economic status as compared to other parts of the country.
Lawmakers, Chief of Offices related to Developmental activities, experts west to Jhapa district were attending the seminar chaired by Vice-chairman of the NPC Dr Govinda Pokhrel.
